Sunday 27 September: Cape Tribulation to Cooktown on the Bloomfield Track

Continuing to explore the Daintree Rainforest, but a chance to do some real 4x4 driving on the Bloomfield Track. Another link here

A short way off the road at Wujal Wujal (for those who know where to look) there is a fairly impressive waterfall

Due to the lack of rain recently the Bloomfield Track was nowhere near as challenging as it should have been, so we finished it in record time. Our original plan had been to head north to Cooktown and to camp there for the night before heading south. However, with so much time to spare we decided to head south immediately, arriving at the Mareeba Wetlands in time for a late lunch.

We spent the afternoon walking around the wetlands spotting birds (and a kangaroo - yes, just one!)

Golden NuggetGolden Nugget: Need to transfer money between currencies?

For transferring money between currencies I have found Transferwise to be both cheap and easy to use. They transfer money at the mid-market rate (you can't do better than that!) and charge 0.5%. So, for example, to transfer 1,000€ it costs only 5€. They achieve this by matching your transfer with another going in the other direction. If you use the link on these pages you have one free transfer of up to £3,000 (and we get a little something too!). It really is worth a look. (Mind you, if you know of something better then let me know!)
